Alex is a bilingual (Spanish-English) Licensed Social Worker, who earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Masters Degree in Social Work, specializing in Child Law and Policy through Erikson Institute and Loyola University. Since 2009, she has provided social work services to young children, adolescents, and families through various non-profit agencies.

Alex believes in the power of healing, and the importance of being supported while navigating life challenges. Her approach embraces empathy, kindness and passion to help clients feel safe sharing their thoughts, feelings and experiences. Alex is warm and approachable, and helps clients reflect on their experiences while assessing the root cause of their barriers. Meanwhile, she helps identify healthy coping mechanisms so her clients can ultimately experience life at their best mental and emotional state.

Alex uses evidence-based strategies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Theory (DBT). Alex has recently completed her level one Theraplay training course and enjoys employing attachment-based strategies in her work with children and parents.

Alex primarily works with children, adolescents, and young adults with a special focus in trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, emotional regulation, life transitions, peer management, and stress management. Additionally, as a mother, Alex has taken an interest in the Perinatal Mental Health specialization. She enjoys working with current and expecting mothers to provide support and resources throughout what can be a challenging and isolating time.

Alex lives in Chicago with her partner and young son and enjoys spending time in family-friendly settings such as playgrounds and trampoline parks. When she is not spending time with her family, she enjoys working on personal health goals and watching Law and Order SVU marathons.
